Mandibular tooth orientation [58]

Description

Exodont mandibles have the teeth recurved outwards and not meeting medially when closed, whereas endodont mandible have the teeth directed in the same plane as the tooth and meeting or overlapping when closed. Endodont is the normal condition. Exodont mandibles are known from Mymarommatoidea, Dirhininae, and assorted other species of chalcidoids. Citations: Schauff (1984: 15); Gibson (1986: 5).
