Character Details

Character

Flagellomere one setae [4]

Description

Absence of setae from the first flagellomere is mainly associated with taxa that have a very reduced F1 (= anellus), but larger anelli (= one or more, typically reduced basal flagellomeres that lack mps) may also be bare. In some taxa, for example Arachnophaga eucnemia (Eupelmidae), the character can be polymorphic within a species because females have setae whereas males, which have a much more reduced F1, do not; however, only females are scored.
