Character

Length of radicle [6]

Description

Known in a few taxa, including some species of Cales, Callimomoides, Storeya and some other chalcidoids. The radicle is considered as a separate antennal segment by Onagbola & Fadamiro (2008). A long or very long radicle is known for a few Chalcidoidea , including species of Cales (Calesinae), Callimomoides (Pteromalidae: Louriciinae) and Storeya (Pteromalidae: Storeyinae) among others chalcidoids. The radicle was considered as a separate antennal segment by Onagbola & Fadamiro (2008a), but we do not agree with this interpretation.
