Character

Posterior margin of prepectus ventrally [42]

Description

Eupelmidae were coded as state 1, but it is sometimes difficult to determine whether there is a complete suture between the prepectus and mesepisternum or just a line of weakness that acts as the articulation. When the mesoscutum arches during jumping, the lateral surface of the prepectus rotates downward to a greater or lesser degree and the anterior surface of the prepectus is rotated upward into the body along a line of articulation formed between the juncture of the prepectus and mesepisternum (cf. Gibson 1986, figs 37, 38). Citations: Krogmann & Vilhelmsen (2006: 73); Kim & Heraty (2012: 19).
