Transscutal articulation (TSA) [50]

Description

The transscutal articulation is the transverse line of weakness formed by the juncture of the mesoscutum and scutellar-axillar complex, which enables the mesoscutum and mesoscutellum to flex during flight as a result of contraction of the dorsolongitudinal and dorsoventral flight muscles.
